Williana Serve

Williana Serve is a junior at Boston University pursuing a degree in Political Science. On campus, she serves as the Founder and Co-President of the Boston University Black Pre-Law Society and as the College of Arts and Sciences Senator for Boston University Student Government. Previously, she has been involved with the Pre-Law Society, Undergraduate Economics Association, served as a U.S. Politics Writer for the Boston Political Review, worked as Research Lead for the Black Student Task Force under the IMPACT Committee, and served on the Finance Committee in Student Government. Williana founded the Boston University Black Pre-Law Society to create a dedicated space where Black students could access tailored resources, build community, and support one another on their pre-law journeys. She envisioned BPLS as an inclusive environment where students, whether committed to law school or simply exploring the field, could ask questions, seek guidance from peers, and benefit from specialized programming. This semester, Williana is especially looking forward to expanding BPLS offerings, including bringing in more speakers, enhancing LSAT and law school application support, and developing a comprehensive system that empowers Black pre-law students to grow both personally and professionally.

Winta Mamo

Winta Mamo is a junior at Boston University, majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. She serves as the Co-President of the Sahelian Student Association and the Financial Secretary of the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and works as an Elections Outreach Intern for Gwinnett County. She joined the Black Pre-Law Society because she believes Black students deserve a supportive community of peers who share similar goals and are navigating the same path toward law school. Winta is especially looking forward to helping expand access to legal resources for Black students at Boston University. She hopes to pursue a career as a medical malpractice attorney.

Anna Woodside

Anna Woodside is a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science, where she also serves as the vice president of BPLS. Alongside her academics, she's also a student athlete on the Women's Rowing team and serves as a board member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as a Student Athlete of Color (SAOC) liaison. Anna had joined BPLS because she knew the strong sense of community and support this society would offer to fellow students at BU. She recognizes the challenges that come with being a Black pre-law student in a field with limited representation. Through BPLS, Anna has found a community of driven peers and a space dedicated to growth academically and professionally. Looking towards the end of the year, Anna is most excited for the Black Pre-Professional Gala this spring as a chance to see months of planning come together and help create an experience of networking for students, alumni, and professionals.

Matthew Spencer

Matthew Spencer is a junior at Boston University pursuing a degree in Economics with a minor in International Relations. Originally from Philadelphia, his legal interests span corporate law, immigration law, intellectual property law, and international law. Outside of academics, Matthew enjoys listening to music, going to the gym, cooking, and exploring the city with friends. Matthew joined the Boston University Black Pre-Law Society to be part of a community that understands the unique challenges and opportunities Black students face in pursuing legal careers. He values BPLS as a space where he can connect with peers who share similar experiences, access mentorship from Black attorneys and law students, and learn about pathways to success in a profession where representation matters. This semester, Matthew is especially looking forward to building authentic relationships with fellow members and engaging in programming that addresses the realities of being a Black student on the path to law school.

Nalani Brown

Nalani Brown is a senior at Boston University pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Law. On campus, she serves as a Peer Mentor for the D.R.E.A.M. Program, an Office Assistant for Boston University Residence Life, and a member of the BU Pre-Law Association. She is also a Fall ’24 initiate of the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Nalani joined the Boston University Black Pre-Law Society to be part of a community that uplifts and empowers students of color navigating the pre-law path. She values BPLS as a space for professional development, mentorship, and honest conversations about law school preparation and access within the legal field. This semester, Nalani is especially looking forward to engaging in BPLS programming while building meaningful connections with fellow members.

Shelby Laime

Shelby Laime is a junior at Boston University majoring in Political Science with a minor in African American & Diaspora Studies. On campus, she’s involved in Pre-Law Society, Phi-Alpha Delta, International Relations Review as an Ad-hoc writer, a undergraduate research assistant in the Metropolitan College and a CAS EL Connector Mentor. She joined BPLS because she is passionate about pursuing a career in law and believes in the power of community, mentorship and shared purpose. Joining BPLS means joining a supportive network that truly has her best interests at heart. She believes this club will not only help her grow professionally, but also empower her to uplift others along the way.

Chelsea Panky

Chelsea Panky is a second year business major on a 3 year track. Besides her role in BPLS, she serves as the secretary in the Navigators Christian Fellowship. Chelsea is also involved in other academic and social organizations on camps, including BBSA, SoulAAn, the Inner Strength Gospel Choir, and the Ascend Fellowship. She is honored to be able to serve in BPLS and contribute to the mission of creating a space and opportunities for Black pre-law students. As a pre-law student herself, she can’t wait to encourage and support others like her.

Kalkidn Seifu

Kalkidn is a junior studying Political Science and Economics who is involved in some clubs on campus dedicated to giving back to the community and getting the students of BU involved with the greater Boston area. She joined BPLS because she was eager to find a community black students pursuing similar goals. She is looking forward to creating relationships with not only Boston University pre-law students but with alumni and pre-law students across the city of Boston.
